MAKIALAM, DAPAT TAMA: A PATH TOWARDS A RIGHT AND EQUITABLE ELECTION
DESCRIPTION
Makialam, Dapat Tama, is an initiative that aims to seek awareness for the Filipino Youth about the electoral system in the Philippines, as well as call for volunteers that are willing to join the mobilization of those deserving candidates in the forthcoming election in 2022. The youth nowadays will be the successors of the lands of future. Now, in the face of a number of contemporary challenges, they're gathering collectively, educating themselves, and making their voices heard as they are becoming more motivated to have a voice in their own destiny.
INTRODUCTION
​As every Filipino is hopeful for a positive change, election is necessary, and individuals still have the power to change the system. Voting symbolizes the collective power of all citizens to ensure that the government system continues to function properly and effectively. Every person should be able to take advantage of this opportunity since these policies are developed and implemented. Consequently, it is only reasonable to carefully choose those who adhere to the highest ethical standards possible. To pick the next leader, voting may also be an opportunity to exercise the rights that the ancestors fought so best to fulfill. The Philippines needs intellectual votes today more than ever, whether they are cast by first-time voters or not. Hence, the ability to vote is more than just a legal right; it is a power.
Their vote is more essential than ever, and they must be acknowledged. Moreover, their votes are just as crucial as the selection of the appropriate leaders: as it is important to seek for a leader who has a passion for serving the underprivileged, the next leaders should also be sympathetic, and they should strive to make the country a better place. It should also be remembered that the next set of leaders should work for the Filipino people, not for themselves or for someone else.
PURPOSE
Aside from raising awareness, the objective of this initiative is to bring together every Filipino Youth and hear their respective points of view. The project will run from January 2022 to the day of the election, and it will be divided into several events, including webinars about the Philippine electoral system, analyzation of the leadership roles of all candidates, particularly those running for president, mobilization to gather youths who are willing to volunteer on the upcoming election, and other activities that can help in withstanding and supporting the Filipino Youth voters. To be able to generate finances, the leaders of the project will solicit donations through their Facebook page in order to raise funds. The heads will also seek for sponsors, but they will bear in mind that they should avoid getting sponsors from people who are running for office to prevent any prejudices.
